Assistant project scientist

►Why did you decide to become a researcher?

Because I want to improve the understanding of disease mechanisms and to significantly advance treatment options.

►What is the “Big Picture” of what you study?

My study is to decipher disease mechanisms of diabetes integrating human genetics, single cell technologies, animal
and stem cell-based disease models.

►What is your favorite aspect of your research?

My research can model the role of the disease risk variants using in vitro stem cell differentiation model, and discover heterogeneity of islet cells using single cell technologies.

► What do you hope to achieve with your research?

My major research goal is to improve the understanding of disease mecanisms in diabetes.

►When not in the lab what are your favorite hobbies/activities?

Hiking and reading.
