NIH Clinical Islet Transplantation Consortium SOP for GSIR, originally CellR4:

SOPs for Islet Processing and Evaluation:

  • Purified Human Pancreatic Islet: Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment of Islets Using Dithizone (DTZ) – Standard Operating Procedure of the NIH Clinical Islet Transplantation Consortium (SOP 3104 A01, July 7, 2008). CellR4 2015; 3 (1): e1369, http://www.cellr4.org/article/1369
  • In Vivo Assessment of Human Islet Potency. CellR4 2014; 2 (4): e1150, http://www.cellr4.org/article/1150

Standard GSIR protocol recommended by the Integrated Islet Distribution Program (IIDP)

GSIR protocols use a 2.8 mM low and a 28 mM high glucose solution (1 h, 37°C) for testing followed by insulin ELISA (Mercodia) for evaluation.
