Where are you from originally, and where did you go to school?

I am from Kobe, Japan, and went to Osaka University.Faculty of Medicine

►What is your current position?

Professor of Pathology at University of Florida

►Why did you decide to become a researcher?

I started my career as a pediatrician and found there are so many diseases still incurable.

►What is the “Big Picture” of what you study?

I would like to maximize the power of stem cells to reveal pediatric disease mechanisms and find a cure.

►What is your favorite aspect of your research?

As a nature of my research, we work with many other investigators and clinicians in collaboration, beyond the field. Such interdisciplinary collaboration is a most fun part for my research.

► What do you hope to achieve with your research?

Find cure of previously incurable pediatric diseases through stem cell research

►When not in the lab what are your favorite hobbies/activities?

Playing music with the band, golf
